About Us

Mode De Vie is an embroidery firm servicing the international fashion and bridal markets. Our office, design studio and factories are based in Mumbai, India which is the hub for hand embroidery firms that meet the standards of haute couture.

We are experienced in beading, threadwork, fabric manipulation and crochet and are able to work our designs into complex patterns and just about any base material such as tulle, georgette, lace, leather, fur used for making garments, shoes, bags & accessories.

Mode De Vie started operations in 2007 as the couture department within Texport India, one of India's largest embroidery companies that was awarded the Udyog Ratan Award in 1991 for its contribution to the country's exports. As a result of its growth and requirement for exceptional resources, Mode De Vie carved itself out of Texport within a year.

Mode De Vie's clientele comprises couture houses, independent designers & fabric merchants in Europe, the Middle East and the United States. While our work can be seen on the runways of the major fashion capitals, we try to be discrete about our clients and what we are creating for them.

Our latest collection can be seen by making appointments with our representatives in different countries.

Our office, design studio and factories are based in Mumbai, India which is the hub for hand embroidery firms that meet the standards of haute couture.

We are foremost a design firm and invest a substantial portion of our revenues into design. Our design team hand-picks the best artisans from the country and is isolated from the burden of managing production. It has only one deliverable, NEW IDEAS.  To maintain freshness, our design team is broken into smaller teams which are reshuffled from time to time. The design department works throughout the year on creating new swatches employing directions from our clients and experimenting with new techniques and materials. Because of year-round sampling, we produce major collections twice a year for Spring/Summer & Fall/Winter which we show clients at their offices or our showroom in Mumbai. As a result of years of in-house designing we have generated a massive swatch archive which is housed in our Mumbai office and can be considered a library for fashion enthusiasts.

We use beads, crystals, fabrics and a plethora of materials brought in from different parts of the world to create our designs. Because of our couture leaning, often we are able to custom- make and source rare materials used in embroidery.

By working behind the scenes with some of the most recognizable global brands in couture and bridal wear we have acquired the discipline and best practices required to service an unrelenting demand for creativity, on-time delivery and consistency across large quantity orders.

The expertise of our designers, merchandisers & artisans is responsible for creating season after season designs that sometimes sell for years after they are created.

In addition to an extensive swatch archive, we create 2 major collections every year for Spring/Summer & Fall/Winter.

Our new collection is shown to clients in their offices by our Managing Partners and country representatives. Typically, clients will pick out swatches they intend using and order working duplicates or miniatures to work into their designs.  At this stage clients might request design changes that are incorporated by us for making the client specific swatch. After receiving the client specific swatches, clients finalize the embroidery layout and send us their patterns with an instruction kit to create the first sample product.

It takes us 2-3 weeks from order confirmation to ship a fully embroidered sample and 4-6 weeks to ship production orders.

Ethical Code & Social Impact

We adhere to international guidelines on human rights and do not employ children under the age of 16 at our office and factories. We are committed to transparency and allow clients to inspect any of our factories for their satisfaction.

Mode De Vie employs hundreds of skilled artisans and helps perpetuate the ancient tradition of ‘zari’ handicraft that has dressed Indian royalty for centuries.

The partners support education of underprivileged girls.
